Day 4 : Unwrap the Season

“Melancholy were the sounds on a winter's night.”
― Virginia Woolf, Jacob's Room: The Shakespeare Head Press Editon of Virgina Woolf
“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”
― Percy Bysshe Shelley, Ode to the West Wind

“Winter is not a season, it's an occupation.”
― Sinclair Lewis

5 more days until the New Year. Until then let`s talk about yesterday, was X-mas , wasn`t it? I had a great time spending my time with my family ( I`m saying that because I slept almost the whole day). So I`ve search on the internet ( as usual) and I found something interesting about Christmas : 10 Most Amazing Christmas Trees. Sounds interesting, huh? At beginning I thought the article would be boring and I was thinking what could be so interesting about some trees? I have to admit that not all the trees impressed me but there are some which made me curious.

1. World's Largest Floating Christmas Tree (Brazil)

In December 2012, the world's largest floating Christmas tree was lit in Rio de Janeiro during an event that featured lights, music and fireworks. Thousands of people turned out for the lighting of the Christmas tree, which featured a theme of the four seasons. The 542-ton tree is 85 meters (almost 280 feet) tall and was built on 11 enormous platforms in Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.

( Read more at link )

In my opinion the idea with the floating X-mas tree was amazing and I can`t imagine how crowed supposed to be. What can I say, the whole country wanted to see the amazing tree.

2. Chocolate Christmas Tree (France)

A French chocolatier has created a 32-foot-high chocolate Christmas tree in his laboratory in Paris. Patrick Rogers' creation will be used to raise funds for a television charity event to support research into neuromuscular diseases. The tree, which is currently towering inside the chocolatier's factory in Sceaux, weighs four tons and, according to Mr Rogers, is a piece of "architecture."

( Read more at link )

I hungry now! Can you imagine? A big tree made of chocolate? That`s everyone`s dream ( unless you hate chocolate, which would be the saddest thing ever). A like the fact that they raise funds and I hope they`ll raise enough money.
One question I have , how many people they needed to carry this 4 tons chocolate tree? And yes, this is a piece of art, you should really see that photo.

3. World's Largest Murano Glass Christmas Tree (Italy)

Here is an art installation which claims to be the world's biggest blown glass tree. It's in the central Campo Santo Stefano square in Murano (an island of the Venice lagoon). It was made by Simone Cenedese, a Venetian master glass artist. Its total height is 8.5 meters and weighs 3 tons, featuring 1,000 glass tubes.

That`s sounds awesome and maybe they`ve decided to create this kind of tree because they had to much murano glass. I`ve traveled to Venice like two years ago and in every single shop that I entered there were hundreds of boxes full of different objects with different shapes made of murano glass ( for the tourists is a great deal because they can buy souvenirs at low prices).

If you want to see the whole article click on one of the links up.

That would be for today, I hope you`ll not fall asleep while you`re reading my post and I`ll promise the next time I`ll bring to you more interesting things,

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 3 : December Delights

A Rudolph’s nose, left, and a Chilly Pear Tree are two light but festive cocktails that can be served during Christmas brunch.

Sharing the holiday with other people, and feeling that you're giving of yourself, gets you past all the commercialism.
- Caroline Kennedy

A perpetual holiday is a good working definition of hell.

- George Bernard Shaw

Today is  Christmas Eve I am so happy and full of joy! First of all I want to say that I`m so surprised about the things I found over the internet. Since I woke-up I wanted to write an blog post about Christmas and, however, the atmosphere that makes us feel happier.

I prepared for you some subjects that I want to talk about, like unusual drinks , food and traditions ( you know me, I want to bring up the most strange things that are happening in our little world ).

What can I say? The world has the most strange and unusual things as traditions, which I find very interesting ( of course I won`t try every little thing because I can think and realize which is ok to try and which is not). Surprisingly there are  many people who try those things and find them the best ways to celebrate this awesome part of the year.
First of all, let`s start with the Christmas traditions :

Japan

For many Japanese, traditional Christmas dinner is Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is so popular and well marketed that reservations may have to be made to eat at a KFC on Christmas in Japan.

I am wondering if the whole population of  Japanese people is obese. I image a beautiful family making reservations at KFC 4 months before ( this is the most insane thing I`ve ever heard, and now we know the reason why KFC does not go bankrupt )

Surfing Santa, Dec. 8
A bearded man in a Hawaiian shirt surfs onto Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and settles in a hotel lobby to hear children’s wishes.
Although is unusual for us ( you know, freezing weather, cold, a lot of snow, things like that) I think it would be fun to do that, I mean why not take advantage of that great weather ( and now I remembered that is cold outside and how much I have winter ).
Now let`s talk about the drinks ( my favorite part ) :
He advises keeping the drinks light since there's heavy food and sweets in abundance. Champagne cocktails with a touch of cognac, calvados or American brandy can give you the flavor of those wintery spirits at an alcohol content that won't end your day too early. ( like an advise for all of you, and the man who advises us is the owner of The Hawthorne bar in Boston )
One drink he likes is yule tide bulles (French for bubbles), which is one part cognac, one part Benedictine, one part fresh lemon juice, one part grenadine and one part cool filtered water.
This one looks great and I think it tastes the same!

Executive chef jW Foster, who is Canadian, has introduced Inniskillin icewine, a dessert wine made from grapes that have been frozen on the vine, that is made in the Niagara Peninsula winegrowing region. The wine can be served straight or mixed with vodka for an easy martini.
Despite the strange name which I can`t pronounce, it doesn`t sound horrible at all, maybe I`ll try sometime this one .
For more recipes check-out the site ! ( link )
Finally let`s see some special and weird Christmas food :
Porridge With Mushrooms (Czech Republic/ Slovakia)
The Feast of the Seven Fishes -     The meal is typically made up of all kinds of different seafood (not necessarily fish, despite the name) from cod to squid, mussels to eels. The salted form of cod that sometimes appears is particularly associated with the poverty stricken, while the desert is traditionally a very sugary bread, such as panatone.
Hallaca (Venezuela) -      a mixture of meats and raisins wrapped in maize and then in a large, bound leaf. The unusual dish is typically cooked by boiling or steaming, and thought to originate from the time of slaves, when the assorted meat scraps would be handed out to the lowest level people and collected in this way.
However those dishes are strange and I would never try them , because I`ve seen some photos and that doesn`t look great at all. I prefer fast-food ( I know I will become as big as a cow but right now I don`t really care) and I enjoy a big burger than those things.
In the end I hope you enjoyed my post and that you had the patience to read all this , `cause I have to admit it, I wrote a lot. If I won`t post anything tomorrow I want to wish all of you a big, big "Merry Christmas" and I hope you`ll get all the presents you wanted ( and for the ones who doesn`t know , Santa doesn`t exit - yeah I said it)

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 2 : Things to do on a Saturday Night

If you see me on Friday, you'll see different material on Saturday night.
- Kathy Griffin

“When anything can happen, everything matters.”
― Ian McEwan, Saturday

Recently I`ve search over the internet to find out what people think about Saturday night in general. Well the information that I found was a lot worse than I expected to be. From the 101 things to do on Saturday ( some ideas were really creepy ) to advises like : on Saturday nights is easier to robber a bank ( like I`m really going to robber a bank after their opinion). However , tonight I`m gonna tell you what I`m doing, and I hope you won`t get bored and fall asleep after the second word or something.
I`m going to celebrate a friend`s birthday, exciting huh? Well the bonus of all that is that I like to spend time with my friends and that would be all.
Because I think you didn`t fall asleep, I`ll show to you some ideas I found on the internet, while I was searching for something interesting for my post ( I warn you that not everything is normal to do )

1.

Crash a wedding

Ever thought about it but chickened out at the very end? That happens to the best of us but here’s another thing to add to your Saturday night bucket list. Get hold of your best friend and convince him to crash a wedding with you. It’s one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences that you should just not miss.

What is this article? " I`m bored... let`s go and crash a wedding! That must be fun! " Seriously... this is not a good idea, unless you want to spent your whole night in a jail waiting for someone to come and get you out, and trust me, after they hear what you have done they won`t come..

2.

Sleep

The week has probably been exhausting and Saturday is looking pretty good as the one day you can catchup on your sleep. Turn off your alarm. Switch off your cellphone. Cover your windows in blankets. Sleep like you did when you were twelve, and had no responsibilities.

Right! What kind of strange creature wrote that? The title was like : "5 things to do on Saturday night"... I was searching new activities to try because I`m bored and I don`t know what to do, believe me if I wanted to sleep from the first time I would do it without reading your article, which, by the way, sucks.

3.

Build A Fort

Remember when you were little and you would pile your pillows and blankets all around you and camp out in the middle of your bedroom? Well, who says you can’t do that in your dorm room? It could be the perfect private spot to hook up with that special someone.

Yes, why I didn`t think at that? Oh wait, I know, because I`m not retarded or I don`t have mentally issues. However the internet has brought to us some great information about how can we spend your night.

Tip : don`t do this things, there are not the best ways to have fun ; go out with your friends or maybe invite them over to watch some movies or spam the whole facebook ( please don`t do that ). However I hope you`ll have a great time !

P.S : Can`t wait for the Christmas day ! Gifts and co.

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 1 : 'End of the World' Meals, Holiday Tea & More

Deep Fried Snickers Bar

All the time people were curious about when the world end will be? What will happen then? One of the most popular prediction for world end is it will happen in 2012, predicted by Aztecs. There are lots of opinions on this topic but today I’d like to show you some world end related artworks with dark and gloomy mood. They’ll make you worry about tomorrow.
-   5 Extraordinary “End Of The World” Inspired Artworks
Hmm, how can you celebrate this special "End of the world" day? Let`s start with an awsome meal :

British Beef with
Mushrooms & Wholegrain
Mustard Sauce

(something found on a unknown site, and I have no idea how is meal looks like or how it tastes like). However it looks like a fine dinner and where is a fine dinner there is some great wine or whatever : Grand Marnier, Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay (I have to mention that this only bottle of white wine is only 320$, cheap, huh?)
Don`t forget about the dessert, which is to important that you can`t miss, let me show you some strange desserts : Deep Fried Snickers Bar  ( You may have actually heard of this one, but come on, this is weird. I bet it makes a gooey mess - that`s the exact description of the dessert...)

And let`s picture the perfect place while waiting for the world to end : maybe somewhere in New York or if you prefer somewhere not so crowded, maybe in some exotic area where you can admire the view while reading your favorite book and magazine.

Crazy huh? Sadly this is not going to happen because we have a few hours left until we pass to Dec. 22, so I`m sorry to announce you ( especially for those who waited so many year for this apocalypse to happen and those who have built their own cages to be save while we, the poor ones, are trying to survive ) but the world and the population of it is not going to disappear.

But you still can enjoy this awesome meal and atmosphere without waiting for some craps told by some people who became rich thanks to those who believed in this insane warning.

hope you have a lovely week!

Autumn Breeze

"You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person died for no reason.”
― Ernest HemingwayA Moveable Feast

“Autumn is as joyful and sweet as an untimely end.”
― Remy de Gourmont

Jacket - Pimkie
Sweater - Reserved
Jeans - Terranova

Let`s be positive people! I know that not everybody can enjoy this part of the year and people like me would imagine the speechless and beautiful summer, when everything is as it`s supposed to be. However, it`s not so bad, let think a little : after the "not so awesome" autumn, comes the most horrible and terrifing season, called winter. What can I say? I hate it, why should I dress like a big monster ? why should I endure the cold weather and try as well as I can not to freeze and die in the middle of the road waiting for someone to find me laying there ? There are billions of reason why I hate winter and I`ll support my opinion with a lot of exemples, so you`d better watch out before you challenge me ( that sounds like a scary thing, not worry I`m not so scary)
Oh, and let remind you that during the summer you have the biggest holiday ! I would probably cry if I remember how beautiful is this period of the year and how many great memories I have during the summer holiday ( + hot, ice cream, drinks and the list continues)
I was so into this post so I barely know when wrote so much! In the end I wanna say that the summer is the leader and the autumn is somewhere in the middle and thank you so much for reading my post and I hope I`ll find as many people as posibile with whom to share this.

~

hope you have a lovely week!
